Misprinting in Malakand board's paper confuses students

Wrong questions and misprinting in question paper of grade-IX mathematics paper put thousands of students in trouble during the ongoing secondary school certificate (SSC) examination held under the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Malakand here on Wednesday.

Sources said that grade-9 students had to solve mathematics paper on Wednesday, March 22. They said that question number 2, 4, 5 and 9 were missing some essential letters, due to which even the brilliant students were unable to solve the questions properly.


A mathematics teacher in Lower Dir told The News that even teachers could not solve those questions, which were misprinted in the paper. He said his students pointed out the matter and then he contacted the examination staff members who corrected the misprinted questions to the candidates.

An official of the BISE Malakand said that they had noticed the mistake and directed the examination staff to correct the questions.The students had been asked to attempt 9 of the 11 questions, out of which four were incorrect, sources said.

They said the candidates in examination halls seemed confused as how to solve them. The parents in Lower Dir demanded the government and high ups of the education board to take notice of the mistake and award proper marks to the students who had attempted those wrong questions.

TIMERGARA: Elders of Talash and local government representatives on Wednesday demanded the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and Ministry of Technical Education to take notice of politicising matters at the Government Science and Management College Talash.The demand was made during a meeting held at Shamshi Khan area and was attended by local elders and LG representatives.
