Introduction to Tenses

We human beings are gifted with the power of speech, which we use as an ability to speak or articulate our thoughts and views. Speaking is a property of humans by virtue of which they can communicate with others easily. Through speaking we can narrate a story to somebody, we can express our feelings, we can tell somebody about ourselves or we can disclose a scene/situation to somebody. In order to convey our opinion to others, one should get familiar with the various tools of Grammar and various forms of verb, known as Tenses. Tenses explicit time showing the occurrence and completion status of an action at which the statement is made.

If the action has taken place in the past, then PAST TENSE will be used, if any event is happening now, then it will be expressed through PRESENT TENSE and if any event is forthcoming then FUTURE TENSE will be applicable.

Tenses are forms of a verb that show the time, continuance or completion of an action or a state that is expressed in connection with the moment at which a statement is made about it. The following tenses are commonly used:
  1. Present Indefinite Tense
  2. Present Continuous Tense
  3. Present Perfect Tense
  4. Present Perfect Continuous Tense 
  5. Past Indefinite Tense
  6. Past Continuous Tense
  7. Past Perfect Tense
  8. Past Perfect Continuous Tense 
  9. Future Indefinite Tense
  10. Future Continuous Tense
  11. Future Perfect Tense
  12. Future Perfect Continuous Tense
