SUKKUR: Education and especially, girls education, is the top priority of the Sindh government, said the Sindh minister for transport and mass transit Syed Nasir Hussain Shah.
He was addressing the annual function of award distribution at the Government Girls Degree College in Sukkur on Monday. Funds for acquiring land and construction of the building for a women’s university have been allocated, said Shah, adding that it is the government’s desire to provide graduate and post-graduate education to girls in their own hometown instead of other cities.
For the time being, graduation and post-graduation classes will be started in the Government Girls Degree College in Sukkur and it is our desire to start admissions from June for which extra funds will be granted to the college, said Shah.
Earlier, the minister visited Kundi buffalo and sheep farms near Rohri and directed the livestock and district administration to shift all cattle pans far to keep the city clean.
He also directed the Rohri town committee chairperson Shakeel Umar Memon to better water supply and drainage in the city and taking into custody the stray cows that hamper the smooth flow of traffic.
