The Chief Minister of Punjab, Shehbaz Sharif, has launched several development projects, an IT University and a Metro Bus route in Faisalabad. These are part of a wider development project in the province.
While making a speech at the workers’ convention at Iqbal Auditorium of University of Agriculture in Faisalabad (UAF), he also stated that work would begin on these projects this year.
Furthermore, he claimed that the Canal Express Way had already been finished but now a Metro Bus Project would also be started to be able to cater to the demands of the population for quality transport facilities which are also safe and affordable.
“The government of Punjab has provided a respectable mode of transport to the poor who can now travel to any part of the city by paying only Rs.20 in Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Multan.” – Shehbaz Sharif
When talking about the university, the chief minister said that the way to progress was to develop technology and keep pace with the world. Shehbaz Sharif also said that this latest technology is currently in use for land record management information system, in the police stations, hospitals, agricultural, education, and other sectors in the province.
In Faisalabad, which is one of Pakistan’s major industrial centers, the initiation of an IT university will bring about many benefits to the local population and industries. Hundreds of thousands of people over the coming year will be able to enter this job market.
Other Projects
Furthermore, the Chief Minister also reported that the first phase od the 1000-bed Children’s Hospital had already been launched in the city with “orders to purchase machinery for the project have already been placed and the recruitment process for hospital staff has also been begun.”
The above-mentioned project is due to be fully finished by September with state-of-the-art machinery and “the best available staff of international repute” will be hired for this.
The Rs.12 Billion Safe City Projected implemented in Lahore will also be copied and implemented in Faisalabad this year and completed next year.
Farm-to-market roads will be built at a cost of Rs.90 billion by June of this year thus helping the rural economy.
