Minister launches Nazra Quran programme

State Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Mohammad Baligh-ur-Rehman,launched Nazra Quran programme for primary students (class 1-5) as a pilot project from Bahawalpur on Monday.
The programme was launched on the orders of Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif initially as a pilot project in Bahawalpur district which will be expanded to rest of Punjab
and other provinces, said the minister while addressing the ceremony at Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB).
The government had approved the project after taking all the stakeholders into confidence by holding series of meetings with them, an official release said. Baligh-ur-Rehman said, in addition to holding inter- provincial ministerial conferences, the government also consulted education ministers of all the provinces, provincial education secretaries, besides religious organizations including Wifaq Ul Madaris, Tanzeem Ul Madaris, Jamat Islami and Council of Islamic Ideology (CII).
He said, it was decided that primary class students would be taught delivery of Arabic words,’ ‘Noorani Quaida’ while Nazra Quran would begin from fifth class with Urdu translation and whole Nazra Quran course with translation would complete by the time when the student would pass his/her intermediate education.
The State Minister said the initiative was taken under the idea of one united nation and same education for all. He said, a Qaumi Nisaab Council or National Curriculum Council has been formed for same syllabus across the country and expressed the hope that the objective would soon be achieved.
Baligh Ur Rahman said, Nazra Quran education from class one to intermediate level and unanimous Quran translation with consensus among all stakeholders would help foil all attempts by anti-social elements to create divide among the people.—APP
