LAHORE: (Thursday, February 2, 2017): Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir has inaugurated newly-built examination hall at Institute of Administrative Sciences (IAS). Dean Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences and Director IAS Prof Dr Nasira Jabeen, faculty members and administrative staff were present on the occasion.
The newly built halls have a seating capacity of around 300 candidates and 8 state of the art corporate offices connecting the two halls. The vice chancellor visited various sections of the institute including library, computer lab, offices and classrooms. Dr. Nasir showed keen interest in knowing about the research areas of the faculty members and the contributions they have made so far in the form of their research and teaching. A healthy dialogue was exchanged on the areas of research and provision of quality education to the youth. He shared his observations about the institute, faculty and student body and highly appreciated the potential of the team and the efforts being put by the management and faculty. Dr. Nasir shared his pleasure in knowing about the Career Advisory & External Linkages function at IAS and the statistics of graduate placements. He placed great emphasis on the need of such a function that is inevitable for the economic progress. The director also shared with Dr. Nasar, the establishment of an Endowment Fund in the name of the 1st Pakistani Chairman of the institute with the alumni support, to provide merit-based scholarships to the needy students. Quite optimistically, he shared the areas of improvement with the members that they can work upon, bringing IAS at par with one of the best institutes of the region. Dr. Nasir shared the university’s initiatives for faculty development with special reference to the scholarships and incentive awards. Later, Prof. Dr. Nasira Jabeen and Mr. Muahmmad Zahid, a senior faculty member, thanked the Vice Chancellor for giving his time and sharing valuable insights. As a token of gratitude, Dr. Zaffar Mueen Nasir was presented the institutional souvenirs and prospectus by Prof. Dr. Nasira Jabeen.
