UWR: An organization dedicated to improving education in Pakistan

United We Reach (UWR), a non-profit organization founded by Ashar Aziz, is all about affordable education for the underprivileged. Executive Director of UWR, Sabahat Rafiq, along with her team members have undertaken essential measures to implement the UWR model for education in Pakistan.

United We Reach is not an ordinary organization which endorses education; its aims are far more creative and effective in the long run.

Helping promote inclusive education in remote areas of Pakistan

Seven-year-old Shehzad goes to a UNESCO-supported school in Dera Ismail Khan District in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. His community in this remote part of the country has long suffered from natural disasters and internal displacement, amplifying the problems of limited access to basic services that already existed in this region.

Children like Shehzad are the worst affected. He was having a hard time getting to school on rainy days and had problems seeing the blackboard clearly while sitting in his classroom.

Pakistan's future depends on quality education

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) paid glowing tributes to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on its efforts towards improving the standard of education in the province.

Khan said that the provincial government hired forty thousand teachers on merit, stressing that the future of Pakistan is dependent on the standard of education.

Global Institute Students Protest Against Non-Issuance of Degrees

Agreement signed for provision of OPF students’ scholarships

Islamabad: The Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) and Foundation for Advancement of Medical Science (FAMS) have signed an agreement for the provision of scholarships to the deserving as well as brilliant aspirants of the OPF educational institutions to continue their studies in government sector medical institutes.

AQ Khan distributes certificates among women trainees

Renowned Scientist, Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan Monday distributed course completion certificates among 168 rural women of Rawalpindi, who have been trained in different skills and trades during the past three months.
The certificate distribution ceremony was organized by SACHET Pakistan on completion of its training course designed for rural women.

Public school reforms showing positive results

Parliamentary Secretary, Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD), Maiza Hameed Monday said that public educational institutions of the federal capital were showing outstanding results due to successfull implementation of the Prime Minister Education Reforms’ Programme. Talking to media, she said the enrollment of students in public sector schools had been increased due to prudent policies and efforts made by the present government.

Minister launches Nazra Quran programme

State Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Mohammad Baligh-ur-Rehman,launched Nazra Quran programme for primary students (class 1-5) as a pilot project from Bahawalpur on Monday.
The programme was launched on the orders of Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif initially as a pilot project in Bahawalpur district which will be expanded to rest of Punjab

Work on Dir girls degree college inaugurated

TIMERGARA: Qaumi Watan Party lawmaker Bakht Baidar Khan on Monday inaugurated work on the Ishaq Shaheed Girls Degree College in Gulabad here.

Speaking at the function, he said the college building would cost Rs250 million. He said 35 kanals of land had been purchased for construction of the first girls’ degree college in the area.

LHC declares PU's equivalence dept illegal

LAHORE - The Lahore High Court on Monday declared functioning of equivalence department of the University of Punjab as null and void, holding that it cannot issue equivalence certificates to the students applying for recognition of their degrees.

Justice Atir Mehmood of the LHC announced the reserved verdict on petition filed by Wajid Ali, a local citizen. The judge held that it is the authority of the High Education Commission to recognize the degrees issued by varsities.

University in Sindh prohibits male and female students

Shikarpur: Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) Shikarpur campus on Wednesday has issued a circular banning its male and female aspirants from talking to each other.

Parkash Lal, the student’s affairs committee, Shah Abdul Latif University Shikarpur campus, department of business management issued a circular in which he ordered the aspirants to maintain distance and don't talk to girls.

Cheating at its peak in SSC exams within Sindh

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Cheating in Secondary School Examinations within Sindh was observed to be on the rise in SSC examinations within Sindh.

A large number of cases of cheating and impersonation were observed at various centers across the province as the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations are in progress these days.

UHS issues revise datesheet of MBBS supplementary exams

Lahore: The University of Health Sciences on Wednesday on the recommendations of its Syndicate, has issued the revised date sheet of MBBS Final Professional supply exams 2016.

As per the revised notification, the exam of Medicine (I) and Allied, which was at first scheduled to be held on March 30th, will now be conducted on April 25th, 2017.

Likewise, the exam of Medicine (II) and Allied, which was at first scheduled to be conducted on April 3rd, will now be conducted on April 28th, 2017.

A representative of the University of Health Sciences said that the result date of reschedule exams will remain the same as it is notified earlier.
