1. Why is the Sultan Ahmad Masjid also known as The Blue Masjid?
Ans: The Sultan Ahmad Masjid is also known as the Blue Masjid because of the blue tiles that embellish its interior.

2. Who was appointed as the architect of the Masjid?


Ans: The royal architect Sedefher Mehmat Aga was appointed by the Sultan for the construction of the masjid.

3. What was the purpose of hanging a heavy iron chain at the entrance of the court?
Ans: A heavy iron chain was hung at the entrance of the court so that the Sultan had to lower his head every time he entered the court. It was the symbolic to ensure the humility of the rules in the face of God.

4. how does the interior of Masjid look?
Ans: The interior of the Masjid at the lower level is lined with more than 20,000 handed-made ceramic tiles more than 50 different tulip designs.

5. Why do you think the Madrassah and the hospice were part of the masjid?
Ans: At that time, it was accustom to build a masjid which comprised a tomb of the founder, a Madrassah and a hospice. So they were considered the parts of the masjid. Both are used for good purpose. Madrassah is a place to teach Muslims about Islam and Quran while hospice is that place where passengers can stay at time of need.

Ans: In the beginning, this building was constructed as a church by the Byzentine emperor. In1453, the Ottoman Truks under Sultan Mehmet II conquered Constantinople. He converted the church into masjid. It was renamed Hagia Sophia Masjid. Its structure was also modified to some extent.

Ans: Through much has been lost of Bllue Masjid over the Years, yet it has not lost the love of its visitors.
