10 universities have no permanent heads

PESHAWAR: Ten government universities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are functioning without permanent vice-chancellors exposing the inefficiency of the authorities tasked with filling the top varsity posts.

Under the law, the process to appoint a VC is to begin six months before the tenure of the incumbent ends.

Currently, pro-VCs or senior faculty members of these universities are acting as stand-in for permanent VCs.

میڈیا رپورٹس کے مطابق صوبہ سندھ کے تمام سکولوں کیلئے نئے تعلیمی سیشن کے شیڈول کا اعلان کر دیا گیا ہے۔ او لیول، اے لیول اور کیمرج سسٹم کیلئے نئے تعلیمی سیشن کا آغاز یکم اپریل، کالج کے طلبہ کیلئے یکم اگست اور آغاز خان بورڈ کے تحت چلنے والے سکولوں میں یکم مئی سے ہوگا۔ کلاس ون سے کلاس 8 تک کے امتحانات 15 مارچ سے پہلے مکمل کر لیے جائیں گے جبکہ تمام سیکنڈری سکول بورڈز میٹرک کے رزلٹ کا اعلان 31 جولائی سے پہلے کریں گے۔ یہ فیصلہ صوبائی وزیر تعلیم جام مہتاب حسین ڈاھر کے زیر صدارت سندھ اسمبلی بلڈنگ میں ہونے والے ایک اجلاس میں ہوا۔ اجلاس میں سیکرٹری ایجوکیشن سکولز جمال مصطفیٰ سید، سیکرٹری ایجوکیشن کالجز ڈاکٹر ریاض احمد میمن، آل سیکنڈری سکولز بورڈز کے چیئرمین اور دیگر حکام نے اس میٹنگ میں شرکت کی۔ اجلاس میں فیصلہ کیا گیا کہ طلبہ کیلئے موسم گرما کی چھٹیوں کا آغاز یکم جون سے 31 جون تک ہوگا جبکہ موسم سرما کی چھٹیاں شیڈول کے مطابق ہی ہونگی۔ اجلاس میں یہ بھی فیصلہ کیا گیا کہ تمام پرائیوٹ اور پبلک سکولز کم از کم ایک ہفتہ غیر نصابی سرگرمیوں اور سپورٹس کیلئے مختص کریں گے۔

Sindh Government decides to hire 6,000 teachers in schools

Karachi: The Sindh Government has decided to employee 6 thousand teachers to overcome the shortage of teaching staff in Sindh Schools.

This approval was given at a meeting in Karachi, which was headed Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah.

While speaking on the occasion, the Sindh CM ordered to ensure the transparency as well as merit in the recruitment.

Furthermore, he has announced the ban on transfers of the teachers and instructed to achieve the target of opening 2 thousand new schools in the province before next month.

BISE Gujranwala board issues matric annual exams date sheet 2017

Gujranwala: Board of intermediate and Secondary Education, Gujranwala (BISE Gujranwala) has issued the final date sheet for SSC part 1 & 2 annual exams 2017.

According to the issued exams date sheet by officials of BISE Gujranwala board, 10th class annual exams will begin from March 1st, 2017 and these exams will continue till March 16th, 2017.

PBTE launches online fees challan form system

Lahore: Punjab Board of Technical Education (PBTE) on Thursday launched online bank challan form to receive all kind of fees.

The chairperson of PBTE Ms Saima Javed inaugurated the latest system in a ceremony. While speaking on the event, she said the complete examination system of the PBTE starting from registration up to issuance of diploma was completely computerized and now the bank challan system was also made online.

Bahria University celebrates 17th Foundation Day

Islamabad: Bahria University (BU) Foundation Day falls on February 7. The university was established on February 7, 2000 by the Pakistan Navy through a Presidential Ordinance.

To mark this milestone, BU Rector Admiral (r) Tanveer Faiz HI (M) gave direction to all constituent units to celebrate University Foundation Day this year on February 7. In order to celebrate 17th Foundation Day, many activities were undertaken by the all campuses of Bahria University.

Strategic decision-making at business schools stressed

The two-day National Business Education Accreditation Council Deans and Directors Conference ended at a local hotel on Wednesday calling for strategic decision-making and synchronisation of internal operations at business schools.

The event brought together more than 100 deans and heads of departments of the nationwide business schools for strategic level discussions on how to increase the quality of business education in the country.

No change in vacation schedule: CM

KARACHI, May 22: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has announced that the schedule of summer vacation in schools and colleges will remain unchanged.

However, he added, he had not yet seen the summary of the education department's steering committee's recommendation for revising the timetable.

Education on the agenda: CM orders reopening of 2,000 ‘ghost’ schools

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah approved the recruitment of 6,000 teachers on merit and issued orders to reopen 2,000 schools by the end of March.

There are 5,384 closed schools in the province, of them 4,123 are viable and can be made functional, said education secretary Syed Jamal Shah, giving a briefing to the chief minister on Wednesday. Following the ‘education emergency’ that the chief minister (CM) imposed, Jamal said that 1,461 schools have been reopened.

Schools operating in residential areas to be closed

ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Defence was apprised on Wednesday that 32 unauthorised educational institutes operating in residential parts of Westridge in Rawalpindi, and that they would be closed within three months.

The meeting was chaired by Senator Salahuddin Tirmizi who was informed by defence officials that the cantonment has five cantonment board schools, 23 government schools, and 32 unauthorised private schools were also operating there.

GCU receives Rs1 million donation for scholarship

Lahore: An outstanding old Ravian and lawyer, Taffazul Hussain Rizvi, on Monday announced a donation of rupees 1 million to the Endowment Fund Trust of Government College University (GCU-EFT) for starting a scholarship in the name of his parents.

As per the press release, “Mr & Ms Talib Hussain Rizvi Golden Scholarship” will be given to a deserving student every year on merit basis and will cover his/her university fee and also hostel expenditures.

Higher Education Commission halts 24 PhD programmes

Islamabad: Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) has closed down 24 PhD academic programmes of International Islamic University (IIU) Islamabad for not fulfilling the required criteria set by the government.

The HEC also ordered to stop all academic activities in these programmes till the fulfillment of the set requirements.
